Co-written by Health First Europe (HFE), the European Network for Safer Healthcare, and the European Association of Urology Nurses (EAUN), this comprehensive report “Increasing adherence to CAUTI guidelines recommendations from existing evidence” aims to raise awareness on catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) and discuss evidence-based recommendations on how to prevent them.
Improving adherence to the official guidelines will enhance patient safety in Europe and a reduction in CAUTI will leading to a reduction in the consumption of antibiotics, the costs associated with such consumption and the prevention of antibiotic resistance.
The report was launched at the ENSH roundtable event on 30 June 2021, hosted by MEP István Ujhelyi (S&D, Hungary), and organised by the European Network for Safer Healthcare (ENSH), which brought together policy makers from the European Commission and the European Parliament, and many healthcare experts, including the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, the European Society for Emergency Medicine, the European Association of Urology and the European Association of Urology Nurses.
